Overview

The Department of Anaesthesiology at Amala is a state-of-the-art department, dealing with perioperative care, postoperative set up and pain management, and also extending its services to all other clinical departments, thereby serving as its backbone. 

Services of the department vary from helping out to get IV access in difficult cases, to Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation. There are ten fully-equipped Operation Theatres that function daily from 8.00 am, till the scheduled operations are over. Emergency Operations are undertaken round-the-clock under Anaesthesia coverage. All surgical departments are functioning in the Operation Theatre.

Facilities

  • Pre-Anaesthetic Clinic: All elective cases are evaluated and prepared in the pre-anaesthetic clinic.
  • Anaesthesia in remote locations like CT Scan, MRI, Radiotherapy, Endoscopy, Modified ECT.
  • Intensive Care Units: Pain relief, resuscitation, respiratory support including mechanical ventilation.
  • Emergency Medicine: Resuscitation and trauma care.
  • Pain and Palliative Care: Pain relief and support care are offered to terminally ill cancer patients.
  • Operating room: We have 13 operation theaters giving anaesthesia care for all surgical departments .

Perioperative anaesthesia care , anaesthesia for off pump and on pump cardiac surgeries , one lung ventilation, invasive monitoring for all high risk surgeries .

SSEP and MEP anaesthesia for scoliosis surgeries and

Labour and obstetric anaesthesia .

Regional anaesthesia techniques with ultrasound and PNS , Trans esophageal echocardiography .

Fiber optic bronchoscopy, difficult intubation maneuvers, Intra aortic balloon support, TIVA , blood conservative measures

Non operating room anaesthesia is provided in locations like MRI ,CT scan room ,endoscopic suits , for electroconvulsive therapy ,anaesthesia for radiation therapy etc. 

Emergency medicine – Resuscitation and trauma care are given 24x7

Department of Pain and palliative care - for terminally ill cancer patients , for management acute and chronic pain. We have two qualified palliative care physicians in our department .

 We have a 37 bedded 14+6 , 17- post op ICU for monitoring and management of post op patients.

Works as a separate unit for managing acute or chronic medically ill patients providing all intensive care monitoring and medical management .
